Caryn Halstead and Allison Secord are better known around RMHCNA as the Firegirls. Most recently they were volunteering their time for Meals That Mend: Frozen Edition, a program that they have championed from the very start. They have made hundreds of frozen meals for families at the House and in the hospital to enjoy, ensuring that any family will have a meal when they need it most.

They are also incredible bakers too! What we love about the Firegirls is that any time a House Hero wants to get involved, Caryn and Allison welcome them with open arms. Over the past few years they have made many tasty treats, and even created frozen desserts with the help of fire trucks! The House Heroes get so excited when the Firegirls have booked a Meals That Mend dinner because they usually bring along their friends from different fire stations across Edmonton, and a fire truck too!

The Firegirls have been such incredible supporters of the House through the kitchen, but that’s not where their support ends. They schedule different fire hall field trips through the Family Life Program where House Heroes meet and interact with members of Edmonton Fire & Rescue Services.

Sheri, a mother staying at the House with her family, is a big fan of Caryn and Allison. “The Firegirls have become a part of our family, taking both Tristan and Zoey under their wing,” she says.
Thank you Firegirls for everything you do for families with seriously ill or injured children.
