If you are a social worker looking to refer a family to the Ronald McDonald House, please use the form below to get the process started.
To be eligible to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, families must:
- Have a child (18 years of age or younger) being treated for a serious illness at a local Edmonton hospital on an inpatient or outpatient basis
- Live outside 45 km radius from the Stollery Children’s Hospital
- Have a referral from a social worker or hospital staff member (for first-time visits)
Note: Anyone suffering from, or who has recently been exposed to, a communicable illness, including a cold or the flu, cannot be admitted in order to minimize the risk to children with weakened immune systems.
Booking Your Stay
Families can check availability by calling us at 780-439-5437 ext. 200 or 205. We request that families make a $10 donation to RMHC Alberta per night of their stay. If this amount cannot be reached, we are able to reduce or waive the donation. Families are not admitted based on their financial need. Rather, they are admitted based on the medical condition of the child and room availability. Siblings and other family members are welcome to accompany the parents of the sick child. We are only able to offer one guest room per family and up to five people can stay in a single room.
If we are unable to offer accommodations, our preferred hotel partners may be able to offer a special compassionate rate to families on our waiting list.
When a child is returning for continuing medical care, the family may call us directly at 780-439-5437 to make arrangements.
