A simple, brown bagged lunch. Not so simple when it is a nutritious, volunteer-prepared lunch delivered to a family who calls the NICU home. The Edmonton and area REALTOR® community is continuing to help Ronald McDonald House deliver the comfort of a meal to the families whose babies are fighting for wellness in the Stollery NICU at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

The month of September saw support from Mare Bryant and Tabatha Dowhaniuk of Re/Max Elite Sherwood Park. These ladies brought their hands, hearts, and humour, sharing many giggles as they prepared to be of service. They loved hearing the impact the Meals that Mend: Hospital Lunch Program has on families, and took to social media to share how the experience had impacted them:

“I was intrigued by the amount of people they accommodate on a daily basis, and touched by the love that surrounds not only the House but the volunteers and commitment to the program.” -Mare Bryant, supporter of RMHCNA Meals that Mend: Hospital Lunch Program

We also welcomed Vince Fiacco, who was accompanied by some colleagues, including a REALTOR® from the Spruce Grove community, Cindy Gannon, who is a regular donor and supporter of the House, but had never seen this program in action.

“There is no greater feeling than to see the smiles on the faces of these strong families.” -Vince Fiacco, supporter of RMHCNA Meals that Mend: Hospital Lunch Program

The month of comfort closed with our friend Juli Wenger bringing some friends to deliver lunch. This was also a day where the program experienced its first growth spurt, with 45 lunches delivered up from prior deliveries of 40. Juli was part of the launch of this additional lunch service on June 1, and has been a siren in the community, sharing the value of caring and giving in her REALTOR® community and beyond.
