Going home. Those two little words are so powerfully emotive for us all. They conjure smells, feelings, and event tastes. Mom’s apple pie. Sunshine on one’s face as the family shares a meal outside in the summer. Hugs. Comfort.

Going home takes on a completely different and heightened meaning for our families. Often times the first trip ‘home’ is to their temporary home at Ronald McDonald House. Such was the case for House Hero Raheem this past week…

This sweet photo was captured by our volunteer shuttle driver, Gil, as mom and baby arrived at the House for the first time following a long hospitalization. You can see and feel the emotions that mom was feeling in her tender expression. In turn, this is one step closer to their return to their actual home.
