At Ronald McDonald House, giving defines your character.

Giving of his time and resources to worthy charities is nothing new to River City Events’ Founder and President, Joe Ammar. Giving back is an important part of our culture as evidenced most recently with Joe being presented with his very own caricature by our friends at Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta! Isn’t he cute?

The program started in late 2013, when RMHNA developed a unique thank-you gift for Cargill staff who made dinner once a month for families staying at the House. This gift was a miniature caricature in the likeness of each volunteer. Since then, this unique and wonderful project has taken off and is used as a recognition piece for all sponsor supporters. Artist, and Stewardship Officer for RMHNA, Sae Shigeto was gracious enough to share her thoughts on the project with us:

“There are now over 300 characters based on real individuals like Joe who support this wonderful charity with volunteer time, in-kind resources, and corporate donations.”

While plans for a more structured program are in the works, for now new character creations are based on an informal nomination system.

River City Events supports many charities, and the RMHCNA is one especially close to Joe’s heart.

He’s not alone either. Shigeto told us that several donors came together and built a beautiful Theatre Room in the RMHNA basement, and as a thank you she created a movie poster-sized piece showcasing all of the actual volunteers.
