In 2014, 38.6% of the families staying at Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta were seeking cardiac care for their children. Cardiology continues to be the highest demographic of childhood illness that brings families to RMHNA. We’re celebrating Heart Month with impact statements from our families’ hearts. They are love notes from our families to yours!

Nikki Januszewski, whose little heart warrior has just learned to walk: RMHNA taught me about community. About people who suffer, who fight, can come together. Whatever the mountain, you are not climbing alone. It is a place of hope, sharing and love. RMHNA is a place of heart.

Alexis Campbell, living donor to her daughter Izzy: Because of Izzy we learned to never take a minute for granted. Life is a gift. Because of RMHNA we learned that a family is not something you are born into, but the people that are there for you when you need it the most.

Crystal Aucoin whose baby, Parker, was born over 100 days premature: Because of Parker, who was born extremely premature, we learned that although everybody’s story is different, everybody’s pain is the same. We all hurt, no matter what we are going through. Because of RMHNA I was able to have my family together when it felt like our world was falling apart. RMHNA was not just a place to rest our head, it really became our home and the staff became our family. There are no words that can express enough what RMHNA means to us!

Whether you are one of our email newsletter subscribers, one of our volunteers, one of our donors, or an event sponsor, we hope that your heart has swelled at reading the impact of your support.

Watch for more letters tomorrow. Happy Heart Month!
