Last week was quiet at RMHNA. The House was missing a group of people who help keep the office bustling all day. I was receiving few phone calls and visitors, which are the ingredients for a long day at the office. Without all of the noise I was able to hear a bunch of giggles coming from the dining area. Curiosity took over and I had see what was happening. That’s when I saw a few families baking cupcakes and donuts together. As time passed, the laughter got louder and louder until I had to go out and partake in the fun.
The families were having so much fun making icing and deciding how to decorate the cupcakes. No one else was around, but the sounds of their enjoyment was contagious. There was nothing but smiles and good times shared.
This is one of the many things I love about Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta. Even when times are quiet and slow there is always something fun and exciting to do! Messes and mistakes are not frowned upon, instead they are encouraged because everyone knows those make the best memories (another benefit was the tasty treats everyone got to enjoy).
