I was lucky enough to attend the RMHC Regional Conference in Chicago and I want to share some of my experiences that have reinforced why I am so proud to be a part of this incredible organization. In the sessions, I learned so much about the different areas within our organization, how we can relate to each other by understanding and embracing personality styles and ways I can become a better leader. I learned so much about my co-workers and my appreciation has grown for the amazing team members I am privileged to work with. We all bring something unique to the team and have so much to learn from each other’s experiences. Finally, I had the opportunity to meet with other like-minded, passionate individuals from other Houses who all care about the same thing; providing comfort and normalcy to families who are all going through some of the toughest times they will ever face. By sharing best practices with these individuals from Houses across Canada and the United States, I came back with many new ideas we can apply to our own House, but also realized that what we are doing here is something other Houses are noticing. I received multiple compliments on our staff jackets and t-shirts, the WestJet and Kyler videos, and the amazing things our Communications team is doing on social media to name a few. Needless to say, the work we are doing here is definitely being noticed and I feel really grateful to be a part of it.
