S’mores Bar Recipe
Adapted from Lovin’ From the Oven
Feeling nostalgic for summer? We are too, but it looks and is starting to feel like it is definitely time to hunker down for winter. Before you begin your winter hibernation here is a recipe that hopefully reminds you of warmer days. You might want to keep this recipe in your pocket for the January/February deep freeze…
½ cup butter
¼ cup brown sugar
½ cup granulated white sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 ⅓ cups flour
¾ cups graham cracker crumbs
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
2 family sized Hershey’s milk chocolate bars
1 ½ cups marshmallow creme
Cream your butter and sugars together until light and fluffy. Add in your egg and vanilla, mixing well. In a separate bowl whisk together your dry ingredients or if you are rationing your dishes (like we always do) throw the dry ingredients straight into your butter and sugar mixture, being sure to mix until they are thoroughly combined. Press half of your dough into a well greased 8×8 pan. Break up your Hershey’s chocolate bars and place the chocolate pieces on top of your dough. Because we’re all about safety, be sure to taste the chocolate… you know, to make sure those chocolate bars are safe!
Once you have the dough covered with your chocolate you will want to spread your marshmallow creme. This can be quite a feat and you are in great danger of quite possibly becoming trapped in an ooey gooey mess. The trick is to warm the creme just slightly to make it a bit more spreadable. Feel free to taste that too, because again safety first!
Distribute the remaining dough carefully onto of your marshmallow creme, pressing it in ever so slightly. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Make sure to cool completely before cracking into this delicious dessert. These s’mores bars are so good you should probably make two pans right off the start!
