We are constantly inspired by the multitude of ways that our donors, volunteers, and community ambassadors show their love and support for our House and families. When the community recognizes these individuals because of their efforts within our four walls, it is a high compliment.

The Spruce Grove and District Chamber of Commerce held their annual awards gala on October 22, 2016. Several of our RMHCNA supporters were recognized for their contribution in their community. One of the organizations nominated for Business of the Year was Cargill Value Added Meats. The Cargill team is part of our Ronald McDonald House family. They were our first monthly Meals that Mend partner in 2010, and prepare and share dinner on the last Friday of every month for our families. RMHCNA is more than Cargill’s charity of choice – we are part of their culture. All new employees participate in one of Cargill’s monthly dinners as part of their employee orientation, and over 90% of their employees choose to support RMHCNA through employee giving.

Cargill also hosts and supports RMHCNA fundraiser events in our community. This year marked the 5th year of the Cargill Score! for the Houses hockey tournament in Spruce Grove; these tournaments have raised over $200K in support for RMHCNA and our sister RMHC chapters in Western Canada. The Cargill family lives and breathes volunteerism, providing an army of kindness not only for the monthly dinners, but also for our events like Block Party.

One of the leaders in Cargill’s volunteer Army of Kindness is Bridget Bannerholt. Bridget serves the House in a volunteer capacity in many ways. She is actively involved in all aspects of volunteering, both with her Cargill family as well as personally. Her value as a community volunteer was celebrated at the Spruce Grove Chamber awards where she was awarded Community Volunteer of the Year.

Another huge heart for the House in Spruce Grove is Steve Crape, General Manager of Save-On-Foods. He and his team support the House in many ways: they participate in Meals that Mend, have been an RMHCNA Block Party sponsor for every year of the event, and host and support community fundraisers for the House. Steve is the first to offer whatever support he can give, and has a very soft heart for our House Heroes. Spruce Grove Chamber recognized Steve as Manager of the Year for the kindness that he shows his staff and his community.

  1. The Spruce Grove & District Chamber of Commerce is honored to be able to recognize our business community. Without our many generous and committed organizations, Spruce Grove & District would not be the vibrant region it is today.

Congratulations once again Bridget and Steve! We are all blessed by your care and concern for those of us who require the extra support.
