Many of you know me as Amanda Lucas from Edward Jones, but today I am Amanda Lucas volunteer for RMHNA in Grande Prairie.
About a year ago I heard that the niece of a coworker, classmate and friend of my daughter, was diagnosed with cancer and would be starting aggressive chemo treatments. With every sad update I received from her family visiting her in Edmonton, I received such happy stories of their visit with her at RMHNA.
I wanted to do something to help them out, but I was coming up short on what would be best. Megan had recently joined the staff at RMHNA and asked if I wanted to join a committee. I thought that’s the answer… I can help with fundraising for the House that has been one of the only bright spots in this little girl’s day.
I am now a very involved volunteer and I am absolutely speechless on how many families the House has helped. It’s an absolutely amazing feeling to listen to these families’ stories and know that you helped contribute in making such a devastating time in their lives a little easier.
I currently have taken on a bigger role as Volunteer Coordinator for Shoot for the House this year and I am currently looking for volunteers .
